Pakistan won the Bangla Wash Tri-Nation T20 series against hosts New Zealand on October 14, 2022, Pakistan won this series by defeating them by 5 wickets at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand.
Ahead of the T20 World Cup on Friday morning, hosts New Zealand scored 163 runs thanks to Kane Williamson’s fighting innings after losing the toss to bat. However, Pakistan, the best T20 team of the time, fought till the last over and won the challenge.
The game did not start well, losing the wicket of Allen in the first over, the host returned to the home base for 12 runs. Conway, one of the best players, then paired with the host captain. Williamson scored 51 off 38 balls for New Zealand. Glen Phillips and Mark Chapman scored 29 and 25 respectively. At the end of the innings, the collection of Kiwis stood at 163 runs for 7 wickets.
Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took 2 wickets each among the bowlers of the visiting Pakistan team. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz also took 1 wicket each.
Chasing 163 runs, Mohammad Nawaz scored a maximum of 38 runs for Pakistan. As usual captain, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan started the innings but Babar Azam got out when the team scored 29 runs. Although Pakistan did not have any difficulty in batting at this target, batting 19.3 overs, they reached the desired target by losing 5 wickets. Haider Ali, one of Pakistan’s batsmen, scored 31 runs.
Michael Braswell took two wickets for hosts New Zealand. Tim Southee, Blair Tickner, and Ish Sodhi took one wicket each among others.
The team players said that this series win has been good practice for Pakistan before the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh was one of the South Asian teams along with Pakistan and New Zealand in the Bangla Wash Series. But as usual, the Tigers could not win any match. They have lost 4 matches in the group stage. The team management of the Bangladesh team says that although they did not prepare well, they managed to catch the mistakes of the team members of the World Cup team, which will help them in the main stage games.
